“Jay hates L.A.,” admitted the former reality star, 28, who posed for the camera alongside the Chicago Bears quarterback, 32, and their two sons Camden, 2, and Jaxon, 13 months, from their Nashville home. “If all goes according to plan [we will end up here],” Cavallari revealed of their six-bedroom, 10.5-bathroom abode, explaining that “Chicago’s just not home.”

“I sort of have stepped out of the public eye and it’s actually been really refreshing,” the former Hills villain continued. “I was a little nervous at first, to be honest, just because…it’s sort of always been ingrained in me that if you want to be in the entertainment business, you either have to be in L.A. or New York. And so when I married Jay, I officially moved to Chicago,” she recalled. “I was a little scared.”

Cavallari, who is pregnant with their third child, has officially settled into her new life and has been busy working on her lifestyle book, Balancing on Heels. “I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to do with my career, but everything has sort of fallen into place with the shoes, especially, and the jewelry, and now this book,” she admitted, explaining to Elle she’s been working since she was 14 years old.

“I was a hostess when MTV came,” she recalled from her toy-cluttered living room. “We filmed Thursday to Sunday, which is typically when I would host, so I had to quit my job essentially to do the show — and we got paid. So, yeah, I looked at it as a job.”

“No one knew what that show was going to become, obviously,” added the E! host, who has always been vocal about how scripted Laguna Beach and The Hills were. “I had envisioned it being, like, do you remember True Life on MTV? I thought it was going to be like that. None of us knew that it was going to be turned into a soap opera.”
