A Georgia man was arrested after he fatally shot his wife and his adult daughter after he “lost it” when they allegedly criticized him.
Ralph Mincey was charged with two counts of murder and weapons possession in connection to the deaths of his wife, Jennifer Lynn Mincey, and daughter Amanda Mincey McBrayer.
Mincey, 63, allegedly shot both Jennifer, 57, and Mincey McBrayer, 37, on the night of Wednesday, June 24, at a home in Oxford, Georgia.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Mincey McBrayer was already dead when deputies responded to the residence. Jennifer was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Meanwhile, Ralph was arrested at the scene.
“We are saddened by this senseless loss of life,” Walton County Sheriff Keith Brooks said in the release.
The 911 calls on the night of the incident were released on Friday, June 26, and they shed some insight into what happened before the tragic shootings.
Mincey McBrayer’s husband, Adam McGrath, told a dispatcher in one call that he saw the shooting unfold before he fled the scene, according to audio obtained by WXIA.
“He just shot my wife in the head,” McGrath said while referring to Ralph. “I literally ran away because I had two kids I’ve got to protect, and I’m scared to go back up there.”
McGrath also told the dispatcher that Mincey McBrayer and Ralph were arguing right before he started shooting.
“My wife was drunk, she was upset, she wanted me to bring her home,” he continued during the call. “So I brought her to her parent’s house and then she got into it with her dad and her dad said, ‘I’ve got a gun, I’ve got a gun. I’m gonna pull the f***ing trigger,’ then shot her in the head. Then he grabbed his wife by the throat, threw her down and threatened to kill her too.”
Ralph later called 911 as deputies were on their way to the home.
“My wife had told my daughter that I didn’t take care of my mother,” he said, according to the outlet. “I do every day, and I – I just shot my daughter and my wife of 38 years.”
When the dispatcher asked if the victims were “still breathing,” Ralph responded, “No, it don’t look like it.” He then shared that he shot them with “a nine millimeter right straight to the head.”
Ralph then tried to explain his motive for the shooting. “I just – I couldn’t handle no more the f***ing lying and the way they were screaming at me,” he said. “I don’t know, I just, I lost it. I’m so sorry. Thirty-eight years, I love her.”
It is not currently clear if Ralph has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment regarding updates in the case.
