Nearly two weeks after Joseph Azzaretto killed his wife, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel set designer Mary Kate Golding, in a murder-suicide, her family remembered her as a “thoughtful” person who “loved” being a mother in a newly launched GoFundMe campaign.

Us previously reported that Golding, 34, died on Tuesday, July 21, after Azzaretto, 33, fatally shot her in their Astoria, New York, apartment. Azzaretto left Golding’s body alongside their 11-month-old son and exited the home before being found dead hours later in the nearby Astoria Park following his death by suicide.

“Mary Kate was born June 21, 1992 in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of Gilbert James Golding and Theresa Kathryn (Martin) Golding. She grew up in Upper Makefield, PA and graduated with honors from Council Rock High School North. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was a four-year cross-country and track star, winning numerous medals and awards and qualifying multiple times to run in the Penn Relays,” the GoFundMe page stated. “In 2011, Mary Kate was named to the PA All-State Team as lead-off runner for Council Rock North’s successful 4×800 meter relay. She attended NYU and ran for the university track team until sidelined by injury.”

Her family went on to state that Golding “was always an excellent student, a talented artist, and a superior athlete.”

“Most importantly, she was a loving and thoughtful daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Family meant everything to her. She was so excited with the birth of her little son,” the post continued. “She so loved being his mother.”

When it came to her professional life, Golding “combined her love of art with her passion for film and television. She worked tirelessly and broke into the film and television industry as a set decorator.”

Over the course of her career, Golding worked on projects including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Big Sick, Goosebumps, The Undoing and Your Friends and Neighbors.

“She was widely respected and well-loved within the industry,” the post continued. “Mary Kate loved to laugh, always finding humor in the odd and quirky. She smiled often and brightened every room she entered.”

The post concluded with the family asking that memorial donations be made to a trust fund for Golding’s son through the GoFundMe page.

As of time of publication, the fundraiser has already raised $29,982 of its
$40,000 goal.
