The first full week of 2026 is about to begin, but you’ll have to wait a few days to see the big premieres.
Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu and Prime Video are dropping their premieres on Thursday and Friday this week, which means there isn’t anything worth mentioning from Monday to Wednesday.
To help you make your viewing plans, Watch With Us has chosen the five top new movies and TV shows to watch this week on the major streamers.
Just remember, you don’t have to watch them all at once.
‘His & Hers’ (2026)
Alice Feeney‘s hit mystery thriller His & Hers is coming to Netflix with Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson in the leading roles. This adaptation shifts the story from the United Kingdom to the United States, but the core premise remains the same. Bernthal plays Jack Harper, a police detective who is investigating the death of a woman he knew well. Thompson plays his estranged ex-wife, Anna Andrews, a reporter who has been sent to cover the crime.
There definitely seems to be some bad blood between Anna and Jack, especially since she publicly outs his connection to the victim. As Jack and Anna separately investigate the murder, the more convinced he is that she’s involved with the crime and vice versa. Is the killer hiding in plain sight? Or are Anna and Jack so blinded by their disdain for each other that they’re overlooking some important clues?
His & Hers will stream on Netflix on January 8.
‘The Pitt’ (2025 – Present)
In the Emmy-winning first season of The Pitt, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) was so emotionally wasted that he had to be talked down from the edge of the hospital’s roof. That’s probably why Robby is planning a long sabbatical when The Pitt season 2 begins during the Fourth of July weekend. But first, Robby has to get through one last shift.
Like the first season, The Pitt season 2 will cover an entire shift at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. There are only 13 episodes this season, but there will be plenty of fireworks as the staff deals with multiple emergencies and an apparent technical failure that shuts down the hospital’s computers. It’s hard enough to save lives in these conditions, but can Robby and his peers save themselves from the emotional fallout when they come up short?
The Pitt season 2 will premiere on HBO Max on January 8.
‘People We Meet on Vacation’ (2026)
Brett Haley‘s novel People We Meet on Vacation is coming to Netflix as a rom-com starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth. The story focuses on a pair of best friends, Poppy Wright (Bader) and Alex Nilsen (Blyth), who have made an annual tradition of going on vacation together no matter where they are in their lives.
Even when seeing other people, Poppy and Alex made time for their international adventures. However, their bond as friends is tested when romantic feelings emerge between them. These are two people who want different things out of life, and there may be no version of themselves that can bend far enough to make a true romance last.
People We Meet on Vacation will stream on Netflix on January 9.
‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ (2024)
For families, Prime Video is adding Kung Fu Panda 4, the continuation of DreamWorks Animation’s long-running franchise. Jack Black reprises his voice role as Po, a panda who became the Dragon Warrior and defender of the Valley of Peace. Now, Po’s mentor, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), has told him that it’s time to pass the mantle and find a new Dragon Warrior.
As Po struggles to find a successor, he discovers that a sorceress known as The Chameleon (Viola Davis) is stealing the abilities of some of his greatest enemies… and Po may be next on her hit list. To bring down this new villain, Po teams up with a fox known as Zhen (Awkwafina). However, Po’s new companion may not be trustworthy, especially against The Chameleon.
Kung Fu Panda 4 will stream on Prime Video on January 9.
‘A Thousand Blows’ (2025 – Present)
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and his collaborators finished filming the second season of A Thousand Blows even before the first season premiered. That’s why the show is back on Hulu with six new episodes under a year after the series premiere. Some time has passed between seasons, and the all-female crime syndicate known as the Forty Elephants has been disbanded.
Mary Carr (Erin Doherty, a 2026 Critics Choice winner for Adolescence) wants to change that, and she’s turning to a surprising source for help: Henry “Sugar” Goodson (Stephen Graham). Henry was trying to move on with his life, and he’s been a rival to Mary in the past. Can these two find a way to coexist while reclaiming the power and influence they once had? Or are they doomed to inevitably come into conflict with each other again?
A Thousand Blows season 2 will stream on Hulu on January 9.
