Oliver Stark and a handful of his 9-1-1 costars were reportedly injured on set amid production on season 10 of the hit series.
Stark, 35, and three other performers allegedly suffered various stunt-related injuries in recent months, according to Deadline. Per the report, Stark broke his ankle in August — an injury that required surgery. The actor returned to set upon his eventual recovery.
The other injured parties have not been publicly identified, with Deadline claiming one stunt double rolled his ankle during a rehearsal and another required stitches after cutting their arm on a piece of jagged metal. A third individual was reportedly hospitalized as a precaution after awkwardly landing on a platform while simulating a ground collapse.
Further details regarding the alleged incidents have not been revealed. Us reached out to Stark and a spokesperson for Disney, the parent company of ABC’s 9-1-1, for comment.
The hit first responder drama is currently gearing up for the highly anticipated Thursday, October 15, premiere of its 10th season.
“The 118 faces an earth-shattering emergency that shakes the city of Los Angeles to its core,” a logline reads. “Still finding her footing as a detective, Athena [Angela Bassett] leans on instinct to crack a mysterious new case, while May [Corinne Massiah] finds her own confidence in a new job.”
While Athena and her daughter find their footing with new work responsibilities, Stark’s Buck is learning to balance the life of a firefighter with that of a newly minted parent. (At the end of season 9, he assumed guardianship of his friends’ 4-year-old son after their deaths in a fatal car accident.)
“Based upon the ending of season 9 for myself, I think [Buck] has come into a lot of new responsibility in his life,” Stark exclusively told Us in May, teasing his character’s arc. “It’s going to be a battle to see quite how he juggles all of that and contends with his work. … We obviously don’t write the show, and we just play the scenes as they come to us.”
Buck is a fan favorite character, who viewers often love to ship with his coworker and BFF, Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman).
“We love how invested the audience is in that relationship, whatever you view it as,” Stark told Us. “We play it as it comes and as authentically and truthfully as possible.”
While Buck is openly bisexual, his friendship with Eddie has never turned romantic.
“If I could pick, I would love to have Eddie revisit his army days somehow, someway, or get a love interest,” Guzman, 39, told Us in a separate interview, stressing he had “no clue” where Eddie’s journey was headed.
9-1-1 season 10 premieres on ABC Thursday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET and streams the next day on Hulu.
