Chris Pratt couldn’t be happier for his former Parks and Recreation costar Aubrey Plaza as she prepares to welcome her first baby.
“She’s going to do great,” Pratt, 46, who played Plaza’s husband in the hit NBC sitcom, told E! News on Tuesday, April 28. “She’s going to be a fantastic mother. She’s [a] very caring person.”
He added: “It’s gonna be an amazing chapter for her. We’re all very excited for her.”
The mockumentary series, which aired from 2009 to 2015, followed the lovable and hilarious employees working for the parks department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana.
In addition to Pratt and Plaza, 41, Parks and Recreation starred Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Retta and Jim O’Heir.
News broke earlier this month that Plaza is pregnant with her and partner Chris Abbott’s first baby.
The couple were first linked in late 2025, less than one year after the actress’ estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide at age 47.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Plaza’s rep said in a January 2025 statement to Us Weekly on behalf of Plaza and family members. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Several months later, Plaza spoke out about the loss on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast.
“Overall, I’m here, and I’m functioning, and I feel grateful to be moving through the world,” Plaza said on the August 2025 episode. “I think, like, I’m OK, but it’s a daily struggle, obviously.”
Plaza got emotional about weathering the tragedy.
“At all times, there’s like a giant ocean of awfulness that’s, like, right there, and I can see it, and sometimes I just wanna dive into it and be in it,” she continued. “And then, sometimes, I just look at it, and sometimes I just try to get away from it.”
Since making headlines with her pregnancy, Plaza has opened up about preparing to become a mom.
“There’s something inside: it’s a baby,” she quipped on a recent episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers. “[I] may need you to pull it out. That’s why I came here tonight. It’s either you or [fellow guest] Henry Winkler. Those are my top two [and] he delivered my baby on Parks and Rec, that’s all I know.”
