Players gonna play, play, play, play, play — but that doesn't mean they'll always get away with it. On this week's episode of Bachelor in Paradise, playboy Jesse got his due when Christy finally saw through his "nice guy" act and told him off. Let's recap!
Brooks, Sarah, and Robert
After sharing their first kiss on last week's episode, Robert and Sarah can hardly keep their hands off each other. They've just come back from making out in the ocean when Brooks Forester, a contestant on Desiree Hartsock's season of The Bachelorette, strolls down the beach — and straight into Sarah's fantasies. She's had a crush on Brooks ever since meeting him on Juan Pablo Galavis' After the Final Rose special, and now that he's here, in Paradise, she's suddenly not sure of what, or whom, she wants.
Robert, on the other hand, has never been more sure. He warns Brooks not to move in on his "bae" — his exact words are, "If you ask her, I'll kill you" — so Brooks turns his attention to Jackie instead. Sarah continues to pine throughout the episode, though, until Robert surprises her with a romantic beach rendezvous and tells her he can't wait to take her on a date in the real world, which is apparently just what she needs to hear. "Strangely, Brooks being here has helped me realize I'm falling in love with Robert," she gushes.
Brooks, Jackie, and Zack
Brooks, meanwhile, is totally into Jackie. During their dinner and foosball date in Tulum, he marvels at how attracted to her he is, and admits he sometimes stop listening to what she's saying because he's so distracted by her hotness. Jackie, for her part, can't get over how "quick-witted" Brooks is, especially after he makes a "baaaa-shful" joke about eating lamb.
Zack is still very much into Jackie, though, and he makes that clear by asking her to go cave swimming with him. The date goes well — so well, in fact, that they end up making out, despite Jackie's "no kissing on the first date" rule. "This might be my favorite date," she tells him dreamily. "Just saying."
Jesse, Christy, and Tasos
After getting a rose from Jesse, Christy is convinced he's "such a good guy." That is, until Michelle tells her that Jesse has apparently been bragging to the other guys about "doing sexual things" with both her and Lucy. Christy is appropriately appalled, and deems Jesse a "misogynistic a–hole."
Enter, Tasos Hernandez. Tasos — a contestant on Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette — initially pulls Michelle aside to talk, but she quickly steers him in Christy's direction. (Good thing, too — everyone seems to think Cody will "hulk out" and "eat Tasos like a chicken bone" if he tries to make a move on Michelle.) Christy is more than happy to go out with another guy, if only to get away from Jesse, and she and Tasos end up having a pretty good time on their date. Afterward, she muses, "Jesse is half the man that Tasos is. I hate him." (Tell Us how you really feel!)
Later, at the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, Christy tells Tasos that she's done with Jesse and only wants to hang with him for the rest of her time there. Jesse isn't quite ready to give up, though, and makes one last-ditch effort to save himself. "I'm not here to start a relationship with a dumb blonde, but Christy has a rose," he sneers.
His strategy is to make her feel bad for not "opening up" and "letting loose," which ultimately backfires. She tells him she has no interest in pursuing things with him, so he tries to save face by quitting before she has a chance to send him home. He's all ready to go when she reappears at the car door, fueled by encouragement from Michelle and Lacy, who tell her she has to put him in his place on behalf of women everywhere. She does so by calling him a coward and a jerk, after which Lacy and Michelle step in to confront him about running his mouth. Somehow, though, he still leaves thinking he's well-liked by everyone in Paradise.
Marcus and Lacy
Marcus and Lacy continue to be the show's most solid couple, especially after going spelunking together in some weird underground cave with lots of bats. "Facing a fear together, it definitely propels the relationship," he muses. "I like being a man for her, protecting her. It makes me fall more in love with her.
The feeling, it seems, is mutual. "I want you to know that I'm on the same page with you," Lacy tells him. "I'm falling in love with you."
Cody and Michelle
Cody has known Michelle for just a few days, but already he's professing his love for her and talking about taking her to meet his family. She's understandably freaked out about how quickly things have progressed, and even confides in Jesse that she wants to break things off. "It's just too much for me. I'm not in that place right now," she says. "I don't know that I see Cody in my long-term future."
When it comes time to have the talk with him, though, she changes her tune. Instead of dumping him, she tells him she wants him to always be honest about his feelings for her, even if it scares her. "I adore you. Like, you're incredible," she says. "I feel so lucky to even have you in my life."
Graham and AshLee
Not much happens for Graham and AshLee this week, unless you count AshLee's mini tantrum about Graham not getting a date card. (They went on a date during last week's episode, but AshLee thinks Graham "deserves" a card more than anyone else in the house. He doesn't seem to care.)
Rose Ceremony
After Jesse's pre-rose ceremony exit, the only drama is over which guy will get Jackie's rose. Given how well her date with Zack went, though, it's not much of a competition. He accepts the rose, and everyone else couples up as expected: Sarah with Robert, Christy with Tasos, Lacy with Marcus, Michelle with Cody, and AshLee with Graham.
Next week, though, everything changes. According to Chris Harrison, there will be no more rose ceremonies and no more date cards.
