Queen Bey is back! Beyoncé took to social media on Saturday, April 16, to announce that her upcoming album film, Lemonade, will debut on HBO on Saturday, April 23.
The pop superstar, 34, posted the teaser for the “world premiere event” on Instagram with the caption, “#LEMONADE 4.23 9PM ET | HBO.”
In the clip, Beyoncé rocks the same long braids that she donned in her “Formation” music video as she leans on the side of a car in a fur coat. As the video fades to black, she can be heard saying, “What am I gonna do, love? What am I going to do?”
Fans first speculated that the entertainer was working on a new project after she was spotted filming multiple videos in New Orleans and Los Angeles in recent months.
Beyoncé released the album’s first single, “Formation,” in February, just one day before she performed the track alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars at Super Bowl 50. The headline-making song sparked controversy, as both fans and critics alike lashed out at the singer for seemingly taking aim at police.
“I mean, I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood,” the Ivy Park designer explained in Elle’s May issue. “But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe.”
Lemonade is set to air on HBO on Saturday, April 23, at 9 p.m. ET.
