Caitlyn Jenner Gets Starstruck Meeting Boy George in New I Am Cait Clip: Watch

Caitlyn Jenner has rubbed elbows with plenty of Hollywood celebs, but even she couldn’t help but get a little starstruck around ’80s icon Boy George. As seen in a new clip from the Sept. 13 episode of I Am Cait, the two met backstage at the singer’s concert in L.A. on July 24, and Jenner, 65, was practically overflowing with praise.

“I remember you back in the ’80s, and I had obviously all of my issues and this and that, and obviously I followed you,” she raved to the Culture Club alum, 54, at the Greek Theatre. “I’m so glad to see you back and be here tonight and celebrate that.”

George — who defied gender stereotypes in the ’80s with his cross-dressing image — returned the compliment, noting Jenner’s headline-making transition from Bruce to Caitlyn.

“You know what it is, I think you — now that you’re getting a little bit older — you kind of operate from a different level of consciousness,” the Grammy-winning Brit told the E! star. “You know, you have this wonderful opportunity to do so much good.”

George is something of an activist himself, though as he told Jenner, he didn’t initially set out to be.

“When I was 19 I was so full of my self-importance,” he admitted. “I can’t say that I was leading a political thing, it was just me being myself which in and of itself is quite powerful. You know, it might have blind self-importance, but it had a massive effect. And I’m only really enjoying that now, ’cause I’m sober and I’m sensible.”

Jenner, who attended the concert with fellow trans star Candis Cayne, was greeted with a standing ovation from George’s fans when she took to the stage to introduce his set. The singer later told ET he “expected” the ovation, saying, “We need to celebrate the kinds of changes that are happening.”
