Chris Pratt on Rumors He’s Next Indiana Jones: “I Don’t Want to Be the Guy Who F—s That Up”

Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt won't say if he's in talks to play Indiana Jones, but did say he doesn't "want to be the guy who f---s that up."

Being cast to step into an iconic role can be a great honor and career boost when done right (Daniel Craig as James Bond, anyone?), but there is always the risk of screwing things up. (Remember George Clooney’s Batman? On second thoughts, let’s not.) And Chris Pratt definitely wants to avoid that in his career.

There have been rumors that Steven Spielberg, who directed all four Indiana Jones movies, wants the Jurassic World star to pick up the whip for the next film. While Pratt, 35, won’t say whether the rumors are true, he did share his thoughts about taking on the role Harrison Ford made famous with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.

“You have to look at it and be like, ‘Is this right for me?’” Pratt told Entertainment Weekly. “And is it perfect? You don’t want to be the guy who f—s that up.”

But for those who’ve seen Pratt play the fun, swashbuckling hero Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s not difficult to imagine the hottie donning Indy’s fedora and leather jacket.

“It’s pretty crazy that people hear that and they don’t go, ‘What?!? That
f—ing dude!’” Pratt told EW of the casting rumor. “What has happened in my life that you can see that?!”
