After the video call with the couple’s surrogate, Alexandra, and her doctor, Lewis jokes that they don’t really know whose ultrasound they were looking at. “Hopefully that was our baby,” the designer, 46, says in an on-camera interview. “We just assume that was our kid.”

While the couple was “disappointed” that they were unable to attend the appointment in person, they vow to be there for the major milestones — sort of. “We’ll be there for the birth,” Lewis says. “We should be able to make it for the birth.”

The couple, who struggled through years of heartbreak after several attempts at adoption fell through, are shocked at how much their daughter has developed since Alexandra’s last ultrasound. Lewis notes, “Now it looks like a human!”

The doctor allows the pair to listen to the baby’s heartbeat, and they quickly become emotional as they realize they can see her moving. “That is crazy — oh, my God,” Edward says. “We actually saw, for the first time, real motion.” Lewis adds, “She’s dancing, I think.”

Aside from the Bravo docuseries, the longtime couple have been documenting their preparation for their daughter’s October arrival on social media as well. On May 27, Lewis shared a snap of himself in a room under construction with the caption, “Just putting the finishing touches on the nursery.”
