The stars are aligning! Cast members from Friends, Cheers, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Will & Grace and more teamed up for a hilarious opening sketch from NBC’s upcoming James Burrows tribute — and we’ve got a sneak peek!
The skit kicks off with a telephone conversation between Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes and The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons.
“Sean, it’s Jim,” Parsons, 42, says. “Are you doing anything important today? I need your help.… I sort of promised the head of NBC that I would put together this big special honoring Jimmy Burrows.”
“Jimmy Burrows?” Hayes, 45, responds excitedly. “Are you talking about veteran sitcom director James Burrows, known for such hits as Cheers, Taxi, Frasier, Will & Grace? The James Burrows whose photo I just happen to have next to my bed?”
Parsons, who stars as brainiac Sheldon Cooper, explains, “All you need to do is call everybody who Jimmy Burrows has worked with for the last 40 years and get them to show up tonight at 8. Thank you so much!” before abruptly hanging up the phone, leaving Hayes in a state of confusion.
The Will & Grace alum, who played Jack McFarland, proceeds to call Cheers’ Ted Danson and Rhea Perlman, Friends’ Matt LeBlanc, Two and a Half Men’s Charlie Sheen and many more, begging them to attend the star-studded tribute.
Watch the hilarious sketch above and tune in to Must See TV: An All Star Tribute to James Burrows, which airs on NBC on Sunday, February 21, at 9 p.m. EST.
