Award show season is (almost) here! Awkward star Greer Grammer has been named Miss Golden Globe 2015. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced her new role in West Hollywood on Thursday, Nov. 20. There, the daughter of Kelsey Grammer and his ex-wife Barrie Buckner revealed how her famous dad reacted to the news.
“[My parents are] both so excited. They were so happy for me. My mom, the first thing she said was, ‘What? That’s amazing!’ She knows how much I’ve wanted this for a couple of years now,” Grammer, 22, told Us Weekly. “And my dad is super proud, I told him yesterday,” she said of the Frasier alum. “He’s not the best at keeping secrets sometimes, so I told him yesterday and he was so over the moon and so happy about it.”
Grammer has played naive high school student Lissa on the MTV series Awkward since 2011. Last month, the fan-favorite show was renewed for a fifth and final season. When not in her character’s cheerleader uniform, she often wears chic ensembles while filming. Her role as Miss Golden Globe in the coming year will be no different.
“I’ve got so many different ones that I love,” the actress told Us of her dress options. “The way my body is — I’ve got boobs and I’ve got a butt, so I like when things curve and fit my waist.”
Grammer, also half-sister to Greek alum Spencer Grammer, follows a long line of celebrity offspring that have made their way to the Golden Globes red carpet. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s daughter Sosie was picked as Miss Golden Globe last year. Back in 2013, Clint Eastwood’s daughter Francesca did the honors.
The 72nd Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, Jan. 11 on NBC, and will be hosted for the third time by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
