Grey’s Anatomy is branching out with a spinoff set in Texas — and one alum is already pitching themselves for the show.

Leven Rambin, who played Mark Sloan’s (Eric Dane) estranged daughter, Sloan, took to Instagram on Wednesday, May 20, saying, “Now, hold on just a minute. Grey’s Anatomy Texas spin-off? Are you kidding me? They were going to try to do a Texas spin-off and not tell me about it? Nope. No, no, no. Mmm, mm.”

Rambin, 36, showed on screen that she was already in the area.

“[Creator] Shonda [Rhimes], I’m literally in Texas right now,” she added. “This needs to happen. This is perfect. We’ve been manifesting this. I think I’ve manifested a little too close to the sun and got Grey’s Anatomy to come to me.”

ABC confirmed that a follow-up to Grey’s Anatomy will be set in rural West Texas. The upcoming series will be cocreated, written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is also executive producing the new offshoot, which will premiere midseason 2027.

“I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe,” Marinis said in a statement. “This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”

The show will be built around a new group of doctors but likely would be connected to Grey’s via one or more characters — potentially Debbie Allen’s Catherine Fox.

Rambin, for her part, recently played Audrey on CBS’ hit series Fire Country. She was written off the show before season 4 came to an end but Rambin has shown interest in reprising the role.

“It’s a fire show. Anyone can go at any time,” showrunner Tia Napolitano told Us Weekly in October 2025 about the show’s character deaths and departures. “But in terms of losing people, we’re also adding some really fun guest cast. It’s a revolving door of people from Sharon’s past and new faces that are exciting to bring conflict and secrets and twists and turns.”

Napolitano also addressed Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila’s departures from the show.

“What we’ve done is really thread the needle of honoring — especially Vince — because Gabriella is gone, but she’s gone to a happy and successful life. She’s still out there. But we really walk this line of honoring Vince while also finding hope rather quickly,” she noted. “Looking forward, the theme of the season is rising from the ashes and recovery.”

Napolitano continued: “How do you recover from something like this? And we’re really going to see everybody rise to the occasion, in celebration of Vince, of his life and in honoring the sacrifice that he made.”
