WARNING: Legend — wait for it — dary spoilers ahead!

After all the slaps have been counted and there are no more "darys" to wait for after the "legends," How I Met Your Mother came to an end on Monday, March 31. Don't worry, Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, and Jason Segel's characters' fates were all revealed!

After nine seasons and nine years, the highly-anticipated CBS series finale didn't disappoint. It was chock full of Canada jokes, Barney Stinson pick-up lines, and a series of emotional twists and turns.

Fans of Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) probably didn't enjoy this finale, as the couple who has taken an entire season to get married, ended up divorcing in the first 20 minutes. Robin's globe-trotting job kept Barney unhappy, and they decided to split, forever altering the group's dynamic.

But Barney did find true love when he welcomed his daughter Ellie with a random hookup, and fatherhood changed him forever.

Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) managed to fit in one more kid, and after sacrificing his career for Lily's trip to Italy, Marshall got his reward and became a judge.

Naturally, it was Ted's story that was the most complicated. As many predicted before the finale, The Mother — or Tracy McConnell — got sick and died six years before Ted (Josh Radnor) told his children this epic story. They finally got married after five years together, and six years after her passing, Ted's children realized he had told them this lengthy tale to see if it would be OK for him to ask Robin out.

Of course he did, and brought the blue French horn along with him in a very Ted-like grand gesture.

Social media was predictably abuzz with fan reactions to the finale episode. And cast members joined in as well.

"To all who helped create #HIMYM, well played. To all who enjoyed watching it, I respectfully request the highest of fives. #thanks," Neil Patrick Harris tweeted.
