Jane Seymour Teases ‘Chemistry’ With ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman’ Costar Joe Lando on ‘Harry Wild’ (Exclusive)

Jane Seymour was thrilled to reconnect with Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman costar Joe Lando on Harry Wild season 5.

“We bring in a new character who’s a pathologist called Pierce Kennedy, played by none other than Joe Lando, who was Sully on Dr. Quinn for so many years,” the actress, 75, exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “The fans love seeing the two of us do almost anything together, but they wrote this for him.”

Ahead of offering the part to Lando, 64, the Harry Wild writing team asked Seymour if she thought they “could get him” for the role. Seymour tells Us that it was an instant yes from Lando about joining her on Harry Wild, especially since he’d never been to England or Ireland before.

“It was an amazing, grateful, whoopee, ‘Yes, I’d love that,’” she recalls of Lando’s answer. “Plus, he had never been to Ireland; he loved the show. He’d been watching it, and he loved the chemistry between me and Rohan Nedd.”

On Harry Wild, Seymour plays titular Harriet “Harry” Wild, a retired literature professor who can solve any mystery thrown her way. Her investigations are aided by a student named Fergus, who is portrayed by Nedd.

Seymour adds that Lando told her that they had an impeccable dynamic when they worked together on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. (The pair played love interests on the western drama from 1993 to 1998.)

“And he said, ‘You know what? We had chemistry, a different kind. But the chemistry you and Rohan have is magic. You don’t get that in shows very often,’” she shares. “And when he came to Ireland and met Rohan and Kevin and the rest of the gang, he just fit right in, and they absolutely adored him.”

Lando also felt like the atmosphere on set of Harry Wild was similar to their time on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

“He turned to me when we were filming, he said, ‘You know, I thought Dr. Quinn was one of the, you know, the great kind of series to be on. But there’s an atmosphere here that is unbelievable. Everybody here is talented, everyone’s having fun, everyone’s on their game, you know, it’s ego-less. It’s an amazing experience,” Seymour tells Us. “And he’d never been to Ireland, or actually England, so for him the whole thing was magical.”

The actress also has immense gratitude for getting to team up with Lando again all these years later.

“I’m so grateful Joe and I have found some material we can do together right now,” she tells Us. “A new generation of young people are watching Harry Wild that are now going, “Wait a minute, what is that Dr. Quinn thing?” Then they [watch and discover] Dr. Quinn is so current. We’re talking about racism, we’re talking about different cultures, religions, we’re talking about choices in medicine … and on and on and on.”

According to Seymour, Harry Wild season 5 is one of the show’s “best seasons we’ve ever had.”

“I think what I really love is there are murders and we do try and figure out who did it, but what I really love is that by the end of it, you actually understand and care about the person that did it,” she says of the detective drama. “You actually care how did they get to that point, how did that happen, and what. Of what kind of thing happened in their lives that made them end up in, you know, doing something that horrible, and so there’s nothing kind of slick or glib, or and it’s nothing you’ve ever seen before. It’s not Murder She Wrote, which of course was one of the greatest shows of all time of this genre, it’s full of unexpected twists and turns and fantastic characters.”

Season 5 of Harry Wild premieres on AcornTV Monday, June 22.
