“It is my last one, actually,” she told MTV at a screening of her new movie Serena of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Due out in 2016, the latest installment of the X-Men franchise will feature Lawrence for a third and final time.
Lawrence first appeared as the villain Raven and her blue-hued alter ego Mystique in 2011’s X-Men: First Class. She went on to appear in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past alongside franchise stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, and Halle Berry, among others.
The role famously required Lawrence to sport head-to-toe blue costume makeup as she fought as the otherworldly character. “I always have a little bit of blue somewhere,” the actress told Jimmy Fallon last year of filming Future Past. “Before it was kind of like everywhere. Now it’s just kind of like on my hands and ears. I look like I have a bizarre fungus.”
While Lawrence will be ending her run as the comic book character, America’s Sweetheart will be as busy as ever with an active film schedule. She starred opposite Bradley Cooper in the drama Serena, and the two American Hustle stars team up again for December’s Joy.
The celebrated star will also soon complete her work on another mega franchise. After her famed work in The Hunger Games series, she will star as Katniss Everdeen in the final installment, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, this coming November.
