The odds are definitely in her favor! Four-time Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore has been cast as President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 films, Lionsgate announced Friday, Sept. 13. The 52-year-old actress will be playing the stoic leader of the rebellion against the Capitol — who is not exactly as she seems.
"It's official! Please welcome Julianne Moore as 'President Alma Coin' to the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1&2," the official statement read on the Hunger Games Facebook page.
Boogie Nights costar Philip Seymour Hoffman will also join the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee. The two will star alongside Hunger Games veterans Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the fan favorite series.
Based on the third book in Suzanne Collins' epic YA trilogy, Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 are due to be released in November 2014 and 2015, respectively. The second film of the trilogy book series, Catching Fire, hits theaters on Nov. 22.
