Time warp! The It Couple of the ’90s, Kate Moss and Johnny Depp, haven’t been photographed together since their breakup 15 years ago, but according to the U.K.’s The Mirror, the two genetically blessed stars will reunite for Paul McCartney‘s video for “Queenie Eye,” his upcoming single.
“They are friends of mine and Stella’s,” the 71-year-old rock legend told the newspaper, referring to his fashion designer daughter and star magnet Stella McCartney. “I am very lucky they agreed to do it.”
Moss, 39, and the Lone Ranger actor, 50, aren’t the only A-listers wrangled by the former Beatles singer to appear in his video. Meryl Streep and Gary Barlow (frontman for British pop group Take That) have also signed on to the project.
Still, according to a Mirror source, on set, “the big talking point was Kate and Johnny.” “They really try to avoid one another in public because there have been raw emotions in the past — but neither could say no to Macca [McCartney],” the source continued. “They only have little roles, but it’s the first time they’re appearing on screen together since the split.”
In a candid interview published in Vanity Fair‘s December 2012 issue, Moss opened up about her relationship with Depp — and the difficult time she had recovering from their 1998 breakup. “There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me,” she told the mag. “Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?,’ he’d tell me.”
When they split for good, “that’s what I missed,” Moss revealed. “I really lost that gauge of [having] somebody I could trust. [It was a] nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!”
Moss is now mom to Lila, 11, with ex-boyfriend Jefferson Hack, and wife to Jamie Hince, whom she wed in July 2011. Depp is currently dating Amber Heard; he separated from longtime French love Vanessa Paradis in June 2012 after 14 years together (the two are parents to Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11).
