Moving on up? Kathie Lee Gifford couldn’t be happier about where she is in life. In April, the longtime Today show host stepped away, signing off after nearly 11 years on the 10 a.m. hour alongside Hoda Kotb. “I stayed year after year making a million memories with people I will never forget. I leave Today with a grateful heart but I’m truly excited for this new creative season in my life,” she stated when exiting.
However, she’s now living the dream.
“It’s excellent because I’m doing what I was born to do. My childhood dreams are happening for me right now and I’ve never in the history of my life had the opportunity to do them,” the host told Us Weekly exclusively at the Daytime Emmy Awards on May 5. “I was always taking care of people. It was either my parents or my husband or my children or whatever; I don’t have to worry about that anymore. It’s the first time in my life I can truly just soar on the wings of the wind [and] see where God takes me.”
Gifford added that, to her, life is “perfect” now.
The former Live host also opened up about the possibility of finding love again, three years after losing her husband, Frank Gifford, adding that her children, Cassidy, 25, and Cody, 29, are extremely supportive.
“They want me to be happy just like I want them to be. We don’t know what that looks like in life. If God blesses me again with a new love, I would love it. If he doesn’t, that means he’s gonna satisfy my soul with all kinds of other things. And I don’t know what it looks like,” she said. “I’m not telling God to be God. The way I found Frank was him leaning over a sink putting in contact lenses. The way my friend Roma Downey found her husband, she sat down and had a pedicure next to him. God’s just gonna surprise me.”
