Kathy Griffin Talks Replacing Joan Rivers on Fashion Police: I Have Large Shoes to Fill

Kathy Griffin is up for a big challenge. The comedienne, 54, has been tapped to host Fashion Police after the untimely death of previous host Joan Rivers

"This was a job that was held by our dear friend Joan Rivers," Griffin said in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday, Dec. 9. "I understand I have some very, very large shoes to fill."

Rivers led the E! show from its inception in 2010, until the last episode this past August before her death. The Emmy-winning star passed away on Sept. 4 at the age of 81 after complications from a surgical procedure. 

"In her honor, I will not be holding back," Griffin said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! "I am giving no passes, I am going to let people have it, I'm gonna bring the hammer down."

The Kathy star then found her first celeb to critique in Kimmel himself.

"You might want to up your game," she told the funnyman, 47. "I'm tired of the same suit every time. I get it. It's Gucci, it fits well — yawn! Give me some sparkle! Give me a fig leaf! Take a risk for god's sake. Don't just show up again looking nice-ish. Give me something."

Griffin is set to make her debut with the style roundtable show on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, leading 17 new episodes of the program with Brad Goreski and veteran panelists Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne
