‘Kocktails With Khloe’ Recap: Tori Spelling Reveals Dean McDermott’s Cheating ‘Changed Everything’

Drinks all around — except for Sonja Morgan, that is. On the Wednesday, February 10, episode of Kocktails With Khloé, the Real Housewives of New York City star — who has previously dealt with controversy after imbibing — wisely stuck to club soda with a twist of lemon. Khloé Kardashian‘s other guests included Ne-Yo, Tori Spelling, T-Pain and social media tycoon King Bach (who didn’t talk all that much).

Sonja Discusses Her Spat With Bethenny Frankel Over Tipsy Girl

Morgan wasted no time getting down to business and plugging her new rosé prosecco brand, Tipsy Girl … which may or may not be getting a new name. The entrepreneur admitted she “had to do something about the name” because her “girlfriend Bethenny wasn’t thrilled” with the one she’d chosen. Apparently, it hadn’t “hit” Morgan that Tipsy Girl bore a striking resemblance to Bethenny Frankel‘s brand, Skinnygirl.

At first, Morgan said she was happy to “go back to the drawing board and figure something out,” even though she loved the name, because she didn’t want the business to come between her friendship. But when Kardashian asked her directly if she was going to change the name, Morgan backpedaled a bit.

“I need to drop the word ‘girl,’ but my partner’s already trademarked that a year ago,” she said with a sigh, before adding that she had been in the restaurant and catering businesses for a long time. (It’s unclear how her experience in food service relates to whether or not she possibly ripped off her friend and costar’s branding, but Kardashian didn’t pursue the issue any further.)

Tori Is Determined Not to Be a Step-Monster

The star also opened up about what it was like to have her 17-year-old stepson living, for the first time, with her family full-time. “I always went into the relationship thinking, ‘I don’t want to be a stereotypical step-monster,'” explained Spelling, who has publicly feuded in the past with her own mother, Candy Spelling. “I had that huge fear, and you know, the more we have a fear, the more we make that a reality. So we had a few rough years, and now it’s amazing. We have a great relationship, and he’s, like, my best friend.”

She admitted that she’d struggled to strike the balance between parent and friend. “It is because, as the step-parent, you do want to try to be the cool parent, but then you realize that you do have to be someone for him to look up to, someone to set boundaries with and not to be his friend. But it’s hard, and he’s really cool.” She smiled as she added, “We have a lot in common. We love to shop together.”

Ne-Yo Revealed His Fiancée Bought Him a Ring

Sometime in between a series of party games, Kardashian told Ne-Yo that she’d heard that his fiancée, Crystal Renay, actually gave him an engagement ring. He confirmed that was true. “She kind of set me up. We planned not to do the ring thing,” he explained. “So we get to the engagement party, and she stands up and brings out this ring!”

Don’t feel too bad for the future Mrs. Ne-Yo, though, because he went out two weeks later and got a ring for her.

Tori Spelling Says Her Husband’s Cheating Made Them Stronger

With the subject turned toward relationships, Spelling chimed in about her own experience with husband Dean McDermott‘s cheating. “My husband and I went through a very public infidelity scandal, and it changed everything — it really did, for the better,” she revealed. “We had to start over. There was no way, because the relationship was totally broken and in pieces.”

She said she got mixed reactions to her decision to stand by her better half following his 2013 affair. “People are like, ‘Wow, that’s so great, you stuck by him and worked through it,’ and then some people are like, ‘He’s a cheater. I can’t believe you wouldn’t leave him!’ And then they’re like, ‘Oh, it’s because of the children.'” While Spelling said they weren’t totally off-base, she also argued that the kids weren’t her only motivation.

“I did account for the children, of course, but I also had to account for the love that I had for this man and the relationship we had and the life we had together. We had a life together, and I think because someone makes a mistake, it’s really hard to just throw that all away,” she said.

But that doesn’t mean she could get over it twice. “If they make the mistake again, then it’s on you, I think, but we worked really hard to gain that trust back, and it’s not easy. It’s something we work through every day, and building it back, and we have now more of an open communication relationship together than we’ve ever had before.”

Before the episode ended, Morgan shared that the craziest place she’d ever had sex was in a hammock at her friend’s house in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and T-Pain revealed the craziest place he’d ever knocked boots was on the hood of a car in a park, where he (not shockingly!) got caught.
