Kristen Doute has Brittany Cartwright’s back after her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, moved on with her ex-publicist Lori Krebs.
“A total bomb dropped in all of our lives, especially Brittany’s,” Kristen, 43, said of the shocking romance in Us’ exclusive sneak peek at the Tuesday, July 28, episode of Amanda Hirsch‘s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast. “While Brittany is going through a divorce right now, like, literally having her divorce hearing this week.”
Earlier this month, Us obtained exclusive photos showing Jax, 47, getting cozy with Lori.
The pair were spotted vacationing together at Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. After the photos went public, Brittany, 37, cut professional ties with Lori.
“Brittany’s whole life is nothing but [her son] Cruz and Lori has been there for 10 years every step of the way,” Kristen claimed in her latest podcast interview. “She knows every detail. She knows every text message, every asshole move that Jax has made towards Brittany and I think that’s what makes me the most irritated … are people coming after Brittany, ‘Well didn’t we hear about this two years ago. Who cares. He’s single.’”
Kristen continued, “No! Don’t come after Brittany. Brittany is the victim here and honestly, who cares about Jax. This is so Jax’s way of doing things. This was her paid professional. This was someone who is like family to her.”
Both Jax and Lori have yet to publicly comment on their budding romance. According to a source, the pair’s once-platonic relationship turned romantic after their respective breakups. (Lori has never publicly identified her former husband.)
“Jax and Lori’s relationship developed over the past several months after they grew closer while supporting one another through some of the most difficult periods of their lives,” a source previously told Us. “What began as a longstanding friendship gradually evolved into a relationship. There was never a romantic relationship before that, despite years of speculation.”
The insider added, “Lori’s support for Brittany during difficult periods of her life was genuine. Lori recognizes the pain this has caused Brittany.”
While Kristen wishes she could say more about Jax’s new relationship and the impact it has had on Brittany, she appears to be biting her tongue until her longtime friend can share her experience on her own terms.
“[Brittany’s] going to speak very soon,” she teased. “I want to let her do that.”
