Lamar Odom is keeping up. The former Lakers player is set to star in his own reality show focused on his recovery, more than one year after his near-fatal overdose, a source confirms to Us Weekly.
The news comes after Odom voluntarily checked into a rehab facility near San Diego, California.
“He went to continue making sure he stays sober and on the right path,” a source exclusively told Us of his decision. “It was something he chose to do." According to the insider, Odom is seeking treatment for “his kids” and also because he “wanted to feel 100 percent again. He did not relapse, but felt like he wanted to get away and start fresh for the New Year.”
Odom previously appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and spinoff Khloé & Lamar with estranged wife Khloé Kardashian before their 2013 split.
As previously reported, Odom almost died after overdosing at a legal brothel in Nevada in October 2015. Kardashian and her famous family stood by his side and helped him recover after his near-death ordeal.
“I can remember being scared half to death,” Odom revealed during an episode of KUWTK of that time. “I couldn’t even say ‘Excuse me’ or ‘Thank you.’ Now I’m taking it day by day.”
