Saved by the Bell fans were concerned earlier this week when Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle on the beloved show, apparently took to Instagram to claim that she was suffering from lupus. But her rep confirmed to Us Weekly on Saturday, Dec. 5, that the star does not have the autoimmune disease, and the alarming post was from a fake account.
“Lark has never had or been diagnosed with lupus,” the actress’ rep tells Us. “She finds this rumor very upsetting and her heart goes out to true lupus patients who are suffering from this disease. We have asked Instagram to shut down the fraudulent accounts immediately. She has a Twitter account that is being hacked constantly so we are shutting down the Twitter account as well. The people running these accounts are truly harmful people who do not care about the well being of Lark. Lark is only concerned about being healthy, happy, and working.”
On Thursday, Dec. 3, a post on the fake Instagram account alleged that the Saved by the Bell alum, 41, was battling lupus.
“Dear lupus,” the note began. “You came uninvited like the thief you are. You invaded my body and my life silently and you have no mercy. You have stolen my life’s work, my health, my vision of myself. You tear at my relationships with relentless teeth rending and damaging wherever and whenever you can.”
The next day, the ‘90s star shared another post, in which she addressed mental health issues. Her mother, Patricia, has previously claimed that her daughter has bipolar disorder.
“My accounts are continually being hacked by my ex husband,” she wrote. “Please respect my privacy at this time during such hiatus.”
Most recently, Voorhies made headlines for her quickie Las Vegas marriage to Jimmy Green. While the two wed just earlier this year, she filed for divorce in October.
