Lindsay Lohan didn't get the chance to a play porn star in Lovelace, but now she's finally getting the chance to work with one.
The actress, 25, will join adult film star James Deen, 26, in The Canyons, a contemporary thriller that documents "five twentysomethings' quest for power, love, sex and success" in Hollywood, E! News reports. The film's screenplay was written by acclaimed, edgy novelist Bret Easton Ellis (of American Psycho fame).
Ellis, 48, broke the casting news via Twitter Tuesday. "Could not have dreamed of a better cast," he wrote. "Lindsay nailed it." According to Ellis, filming will begin July 9 and last 22 days.
Deen will play Christian, a "trust fund kid, power player and major manipulator, who is a film producer that enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions," while Lohan will play Tara, his girlfriend and former model, who "has sold her pride for the material comforts Christian can provide."
The Canyons will be directed by Paul Schrader and produced by Braxton Pope. Despite Lohan's countless troubles — including her recent car collision with an 18-wheeler — the Liz & Dick actress has the full support of Pope.
"This gets overwhelmed by publicity and her personal tumult, but Lindsay is a very talented actress," he tells The Wrap. "She's not in the same genus as Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton. She's the real deal."
Deen, meanwhile, has starred in approximately 2,000 pornographic films. The adult film star (real name: Bryan Sevilla) was named Male Performer of the Year by Adult Video News in 2009.
Lohan is currently shooting the Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick for Lifetime. Actor Grant Bowler, 43, plays Taylor's husband, Richard Burton.
