WWE star Liv Morgan felt like she was “doing a meet-and-greet” with officers while in the back seat of a police car during her 2023 arrest for drug possession.

The pro wrestler recalled the bizarre ordeal on the Thursday, January 8, episode of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast. It began when police pulled her over for driving erratically.

“They go through my car, and they find a journal, and they start reading my journal, Stephanie,” said Morgan, 31. “They go to my goal list, and it’s like, so cute and innocent. It’s like, ‘Being a WWE Hall of Famer. I want to do some acting.’ You know what I mean? They just read my goal list, and they’re laughing at me. They’re like, ‘Hahaha… Welcome to the real world, little does she know.’”

It all changed, Morgan said, when they realized who she is.

“Then they find a pay stub in my car from WWE,” she continued. “They’re like, ‘Oh, wait.’ Then they find my trading card, and then right away the whole tone changes, because I did not pull the WWE card. Now they’re apologizing to me. But it’s already too far into the process. They have to arrest me.”

She continued, “I’m literally handcuffed, and the cops are like, ‘Liv, is work going to be mad?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah! Yeah, they are.’ They all took photos.”

Morgan was ultimately arrested for possession of a synthetic cannabinoid and possession of marijuana (not more than 20 grams), after police found a bag containing cannabis and a vape pen in her car.

The vape pen, which Morgan said belonged to a friend, contained synthetic cannabinoid oil, which resulted in a felony charge, while the charge of marijuana possession was a misdemeanor. The felony charge was eventually dropped when labs could not prove the substance in the pen was synthetic.

Morgan pled “no contest” to the misdemeanor charge and paid a fine.

“I was horrified, and I was so embarrassed,” Morgan said, looking back on her arrest. “Those days are behind me. I do not ride dirty anymore.”

At the time of her arrest, Morgan was recovering from a shoulder injury that sidelined her for six months in the second half of 2023.

Looking back on it in a 2024 interview with Us Weekly, Morgan, whose real name is Gionna Daddio, said that she viewed the injury as a blessing in disguise.

“It wasn’t until I came back from my injury this past year that I went from like, ‘I’m lucky to be here’ to ‘I’m that bitch,’” Morgan said. “I don’t know what that switch was.”

She continued, “I think that was my big realization in my time off. For the last 10 years of my life, I’ve been Liv Morgan. Those are my formative, growing, stepping into my womanhood years. I had been so fixated on what I was doing in my career that I don’t think I paid enough attention to myself, my wants, my needs, my hobbies, my interests, my likes, my dislikes. It wasn’t until I had those months off where I only had to be myself.”
