Room for one more? Ellen DeGeneres‘ star-packed super selfie at the Oscars brought together some of Hollywood’s biggest celebs, including Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, and Lupita Nyong’o — basically everyone who was anyone within a five-seat radius.
Well, almost everyone. As seen in this picture of the picture from a different angle, poor Liza Minnelli tried to be a part of the historic moment, too, but ultimately came up short…in more ways than one.
Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Fritz captured the reverse-angle selfie from the balcony of L.A.’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 2. It shows Minnelli, in all her electric blue glory, straining (and failing) to be seen behind the much-taller Spacey and Roberts.
“This picture explains why I never played basketball,” the Cabaret star told Fritz via a spokesperson.
As of Monday afternoon, DeGeneres’ epic group picture had more than 2.9 million RTs, making it the most retweeted tweet of all time. Minnelli missed out on the history-making social media moment — but she did get a consolation prize in the form of a one-on-one selfie with the Oscars host.
“Besties,” DeGeneres captioned the shot.
