Married at First Sight’s Nick Uhlenhuth Shares Dating Update After Getting Divorce ‘Closure’ (Exclusive)

Married at First Sight’s Nick Uhlenhuth is ready for a second chance at love after his relationship with Courteney Landis came to an early end.

“I ended up going to therapy and talked through a bunch of things and did self-reflection too,” Nick, 32, exclusively shared with Us on Wednesday, August 26. “I got back out in the dating world and then started having way more fun with it again and kind of being the old Nick. Now, dating’s been great, and I’ve actually been seeing someone for quite a few dates now so we’ll see.”

Although Nick isn’t ready to tell Us everything about his new romance, he’s proud of himself for navigating a difficult situation after being matched with Courteney on Peacock’s hit reality show.

While the show’s experts Dr. Lisa Paz and Paul C. Brunson were initially confident that Nick and Courteney, 28, could go the distance, the pair called off their marriage weeks before the finale — better known as Decision Day.

“I took a pretty big break [from dating] after Married at First Sight, just to kind of chill, decompress. Then I tried dating, and it was not going well,” Nick revealed to Us. “I was overthinking everything. I was so in my head about putting my arm around a girl, even complimenting girls about their appearance and things that were just so normal before. I was getting criticized for those things in my relationship with Courteney, so I was so in my head.”

Although Courteney and her ex reunited during the show’s reunion, which premiered on Thursday, August 27, Nick said he received closure on the short-lived marriage long before the cast came back together.

“I’ve been kind of living in limbo for the last year waiting for the show to air, and I was kind of gaslit into thinking maybe I was the problem,” he said. “Watching it back has been so satisfying and validating because I was able to see the full picture and be like, ‘Oh, actually all these hunches I had were correct,’ and that was the closure that I really needed.”

These days, Nick stays in contact with Cameron Mitchell and is thrilled to see his friend’s marriage with Michelle Le continue to thrive.

After appearing on The Circle, Perfect Match and Married at First Sight, Nick joked that he’s likely done with reality TV dating shows.

The Traitors can hit me up though,” he later clarified.

While he may not have found his happily ever after, Nick is grateful he said yes to the social experiment and the unexpected growth he experienced along the way.

“It was actually really awesome for me to see how I reacted in that kind of an environment with that kind of a person, and to see that I took the high road and I was patient and kind,” he said. “I was really proud of that. … It’s really awesome to see people on the internet resonating with it and kind of giving me props for it.”

Married at First Sight season 20 (produced by Kinetic Content) is streaming now on Peacock. To hear more from Nick, listen to Dr. Lisa and Paul’s new podcast called “Love In Session” premiering Monday, August 31.
