Time for a little foosball? Matt LeBlanc took part in a panel for his new CBS series, Man With a Plan, at the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 10, where he revealed which Friends costar he still sees all the time, even though they’re no longer sharing a fake apartment in NYC’s Greenwich Village.
LeBlanc — best known as Joey Tribbiani from the beloved NBC sitcom that signed off in 2004 after 10 seasons — was asked by a reporter if he ever runs into Matthew Perry (a.k.a. Joey’s best pal, Chandler Bing) on the CBS lot, now that they’re both anchoring comedies on the “Tiffany network.” LeBlanc pointed out that indeed he does frequently catch up with Perry, 46, whose current show, The Odd Couple, films just one stage away from Man With a Plan.
“I saw him yesterday,” the Episodes alum, 49, revealed.
He added that any time apart does not diminish their bond: “I could not see him for five years, and then put me in a room with him, and it will be like I saw him yesterday. We still have this shorthand with one another. It’s amazing, really. Ten years in a building with no windows, with the door locked, we got to know each other pretty well.”
“I love that guy,” LeBlanc said. Then, to not leave out fellow Friends mainstays Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), he clarified, “I love all five of those people. We spend a lot of time together.”
Could viewers get to see some of that love on screen in the near future, perhaps in the form of a crossover episode for The Odd Couple and Man With a Plan? LeBlanc didn’t sound opposed to the idea, but fans shouldn’t necessarily hold their collective breath.
“I’ve been asked that quite a bit,” LeBlanc said. “Not to my knowledge.” Plan’s creators verified that nothing is currently in the works to bring Perry’s Oscar Madison into their show’s world.
LeBlanc joined Aniston, Cox, Kudrow and Schwimmer in February for Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows, where they reminisced about their NBC days.
Perry — who was in London to attend rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing — was the only main cast member who did not attend the special.
Man With a Plan premieres on CBS Monday, October 24, at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Odd Couple returns to CBS Monday, October 17, at 9:30 p.m. ET.
