The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys star Kristi McBee is taking a step back from the public eye.
“Since the internet loves to attack my family right now … just a reminder as to what ‘reality TV’ is versus real life,” Kristi, 52, wrote across a TikTok video posted on July 27.
Kristi — who shares four sons, Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole and Brayden, with ex-husband, Steven “Steve” McBee Sr. — then shared a video montage of her adult sons playing with her granddaughters, Summer and Blair, supporting each other in a group chat and being a family outside of the Bravo cameras.
“Since it’s Monday and the haters will start their hating … just a reminder of what makes for good entertainment as opposed to what our real life is,” she captioned the feel-good video, hinting that their lives on TV do not accurately reflect how close and loving they all are behind the scenes.
Kristi, who was married to Steve, 53, for 28 years before their 2019 divorce, explained that the alleged hate her loved ones have received throughout season 3 of the Bravo series made her decision to stay out of the spotlight a necessary one.
“My family and I truly appreciate all of the love and support from the ones that have been loyal, kind and have shown grace,” she wrote in the comments section of her post. “Between the relentless smear campaign on Steven from the two ex’s, who can’t seem to move on, and then them going after my daughter in law who’s 8 months pregnant, on top of the cruelty of a lot of the bravo audience, I’ve had enough.”
The McBee matriarch mused, “Are they going to go after my granddaughters next? That’s when my gloves would come off.”
Kristi then confessed, “I never needed this or wanted this and it’s time for my family to enjoy our lives and be out of the public eye.”
She hinted that her eldest son Steven’s most recent ex-girlfriends, Calah Jackson and Allie Eklund, have been stirring the online pot since their splits in 2024 and April of this year, respectively.
“A & C need to find another ride to hop on cause this one is over!” Kristi added. “But again much love to our supporters! 🫶.” (Allie exclusively told Us in July that she started to “question” some of Steven’s behavior, including how she was “treated behind the scenes” months before they broke up in April.)
When a fan responded saying that Kristi’s daughter-in-law, Alli McBee, who is married to Jesse, 30, and her future daughter-in-law, Kacie Adkison, who is engaged to Cole, 26, are “beautiful souls” and don’t “deserve any of the hate” they have allegedly received, Kristi was in complete agreement.
“Thank you so much! I know I can speak for Alli and Kacie that we all appreciate your support and kind words! 🥰❤️,” Kristi replied.
Kristi’s openness about her family’s struggles with the public scrutiny this season comes after Steven received backlash in April for the way his relationship with Allie, 29, came to an explosive end.
At the time, Steven publicly accused Allie of cheating on him while attending the Stagecoach Music Festival, alleging she was getting too cozy with a male friend after he left the desert and headed back to Missouri.
Allie denied the allegations and later exposed the controversial texts she received from Steven amid the scandal.
Steven’s ex Calah, who was featured on seasons 1 and 2 of the Bravo series, claimed around the same time that she experienced “emotional and verbal abuse” during their relationship. (Us previously reached out to Steven for comment.)
Steven apologized for his texts about Allie, exclusively telling Us in May that there was “no excuse or justification” for his actions.
However, the drama surrounding their relationship and split has continued to captivate audiences as fans have watched Steven and Allie’s whirlwind romance from the start on the TV show.
Kristi’s comments about trolls allegedly attacking Kacie, who is pregnant with her and Cole’s second baby, amid the season’s highs and lows appeared to be pegged to her issues with Allie as well.
Earlier this season, Steven and Kacie got into a fight about Steven’s desire to give Allie 20 percent of the McBee’s tallow skincare line, which Kacie has been running for the most part by herself.
During one of their arguments about the topic, Allie learned that Steven was accused of being too close to Kacie and being “inappropriate” with her, which is why he allegedly didn’t want to speak with her directly about their business issues.
“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Where the f*** did that come from?” Allie asked Steven during the July 27 episode of the McBee Dynasty, after learning that his sister-in-law, Alli, had allegedly started the rumor about his connection with Kacie.
Allie pointed out, “It’s pretty weird. This is your sister-in-law. The fact that you can’t have a conversation with your sister-in-law face to face and you’re going to be business partners with her? That’s f***ing weird.”
