Sorry, Ben Affleck and Tyler Perry.
Horror movie fans helped propel Paranormal Activity 4 to the top of the weekend box office with an estimated $30.2 million in receipts, Box Office Mojo reported Sunday.
Though the flick took top honors in its opening weekend, the numbers paled in comparison to Paranormal Activity 3's October 2011 $52.6 million debut.
Affleck's political flick Argo placed second with an estimated $16.63 million, according to early weekend estimates. Hotel Transylvania and Liam Neeson's Taken 2 finished third and fourth with $13.5 million and $13.4 million in receipts respectively.
Perry's Alex Cross — based on the best-selling books by James Patterson — rounded out the weekend's top five, opening to $11.75 million in receipts. Box Office Mojo reports it is the worst opening ever for a movie starring Perry, who has also appeared in Good Deeds and the Madea franchise.
