Paula Abdul spoke to photographers about leaving American Idol yesterday at Los Angeles' LAX airport. "It's been overwhelming what's going on right now," she tells TMZ.com.

The judge — who announced she was quitting Tuesday night on Twitter — says she'll miss her "compadres, of course" after stepping down from the judges' table. Once gone, Abdul says she'll still talk to Simon Cowell "all the time. He misses me already!"

Former contestants have also already "reached out and called me," she says. "I love the kids. And that's been a joy for me."
When asked about rumors that she'll join So You Think You Can Dance (The show's producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe has said he's tried to get her on as a judge or choreographer "since Season 1"), Abdul says: "I didn't know I was given an offer…no, I love the show. It's a wonderful show. I don't think that's going to happen.

"I have to be really careful and think about everything," continues Abdul.
