After Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks nearly come to blows over Apollo Nida’s accusations that Phaedra was cheating on her husband, the girls can’t seem to come together in the March 8 episode of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta. NeNe Leakes — of all people — tries to bring the group together, as the friendships are the “worst they’ve ever been.” Fix it, Jesus!
The Whore-pocrisy Continues
In last week’s episode, Kenya and Phaedra nearly came to blows when Cynthia claimed that Phaedra allegedly cheated on her husband with a man named Chocolate. After the throwdown, Cynthia maintains that she only shared the news to defend Kenya and Claudia Jordan, two women who are constantly accused of being promiscuous.
“You can’t be a whore and call someone else a whore,” Cynthia tells her husband.
During a lunch with Phaedra, Porsha Williams wonders why Phaedra’s close friend Kandi didn’t come to her defense after the verbal blowout. Porsha mentions the fact that Todd Tucker, Kandi’s husband, is very close with Apollo — and Kandi might have trouble figuring out where her allegiance should lie.
“It’s at times like this where you really see who your true friends are,” Phaedra says.
Later that evening, Claudia, Kenya, and Cynthia confront Kandi about how much she knew regarding Phaedra and Chocolate. Kandi maintains her innocence, while Todd tells Peter that Apollo told him and Kandi about Chocolate. Kandi, who relishes being the “neutral” Housewife, admits that she felt like she had to choose sides in that situation.
“I’m not going to sit here and debate what their problems may or may not be with the crew,” Kandi says. “I didn’t say she was right. I’m not saying anyone is right. I’m just saying, I’m tired of this.”
Fact-Check, Please!
Still uncomfortable with how the verbal spat played out, Cynthia invites Phaedra to lunch to resolve their beef. Though Phaedra is hesitant, she agrees to meet because she wants an apology.
Cynthia tells Phaedra that she didn’t mean any malicious intent towards her by bringing up the alleged infidelity. Phaedra disagrees.
“For you to say I’m sleeping around with someone and having an affair…you obviously told your friend Kenya,” Phaedra tells Cynthia. “And you have made it into something that you did not fact-check.”
Cynthia then turns the table and reminds Phaedra that she doesn’t fact-check, either — remember Kenya’s sexy texts to Apollo?
“In this group, we don’t fact-check,” Cynthia says. “We just talk. And that’s just what it is.”
The Tuckers Seek Therapy
Kandi admits that she’s not able to focus on Phaedra’s problems since she has so many of her own. She and Todd still don’t see eye to eye, so they visit Dr. Blake, the same therapist that Porsha and Kordell Stewart visited before they divorced.
Kandi and Todd have only been married for six months, but they had problems way before their wedding. Todd cites the drama that revolved around their prenup as one of the reasons why they’ve been doomed from the start.
“It was like she had no feelings. It wasn’t like…’let’s talk this out.’ It was more so, ‘if he don’t sign it, whatever. It’ll be an expensive party,’” Todd says.
Dr. Blake asks the notoriously frisky couple about their sex life, and both of them agree that things have been stale in the bedroom. But when Kandi suggests Todd has been cheating, he doesn’t respond.
“It’s kind of jacked up that he didn’t answer the question,” Kandi gripes in her confessional. “Whatever’s done in the dark will come to light.”
Still, “I am going to do whatever it takes to save my marriage,” Kandi proclaims.
Kandi Stands Her Ground
As if Kandi didn’t have enough problems! Mama Joyce stops by Kandi’s boutique — and brings the drama along with her. She confronts Kandi about how she’s changed since marrying Todd, and about how Kandi doesn’t come around the family anymore.
“Mama, it’s so frustrating to me that you always seem to find fault in me in what I do,” Kandi says through tears. “You never fess up to what you do wrong.”
In her confessional, Kandi says that she hasn’t told her mom that she and Todd are seeing a therapist — because Mama Joyce would probably rejoice.
Kandi’s also upset about her mom not giving her a key to the new home. To make amends, Mama Joyce offers a spare set and garage remote to Kandi (with a strict insistence that Todd doesn’t get one!). Kandi asks Mama Joyce if they can finally stop arguing, and Mama Joyce agrees.
“I love you more than I love myself,” Mama Joyce says.
NeNe Plays Peacemaker
NeNe may be a rich bitch, but she still has feelings — and she’s had it with the girls’ various fights. “These friendships are definitely at the worst they’ve ever been,” NeNe laments in her confessional.
NeNe tells the girls about a suggestion that her husband Greg offered — a group counseling session with her therapist, Dr. Jeff. She hopes that the session will not only fix old friendships, but create new ones. All of the girls — including a hesitant Kandi — agree that a counseling session is needed for many reasons, not just because of the Chocolate fight.
Newcomers Demetria McKinney and Claudia reveal that they’ve felt shunned by the OG Housewives since the beginning. “At the dinner in San Juan, it became a thing with me and you,” Claudia recalls to NeNe. “We had no reason to have a fight.”
Cynthia doesn’t know why NeNe hates her, either, and says that NeNe is always cold to her in public settings though they’ve tried to squash their beef many times.
Because of all the flack, NeNe nearly regrets suggesting the session.
“I honestly was trying to do something good from the heart,” NeNe says in her confessional. “But my name is NeNe! Lord forbid that I come up with an idea.”
