That’s one mother (in-law) of a bombshell! Sure, this episode has its fair share of touching moments — Dina Manzo breaks down during a visit to her divorce lawyer; formerly feuding sisters-in-law Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice share a sweet “date night” watching The Godfather — but the good stuff comes in the last 10 minutes. When Teresa holds a signing of her booze, Fabellini, at a liquor store, Amber Marchese shows up to support her …as does Giudice’s former Celebrity Apprentice costar Victoria Gotti.
After the signing, Victoria invites the ladies to her McMansion for a cocktail. Over glasses of — what else? — Fabellini, Victoria reveals that she knows Rino Aprea, the husband of new Housewife Teresa Aprea. (The Apreas remarried seven years after they originally divorced.) As she tells it, she was in his Brooklyn restaurant with girlfriends one night, when he sauntered over to their table and asked, “‘Do you mind if I sit down with you girls?’”
The two struck up a friendship — he once got her a Rolex as a get well gift after she had surgery, according to Victoria — and he began to confide in her. Victoria tells the girls, “He started talking about his divorce.” And an affair. Teresa apparently couldn’t forgive Rino for one indiscretion. “He said, ‘it’s who I cheated with,'” Victoria tells the girls. “He just looked at me and he said, ‘Her mother.'”
Let that sink in: Her. Mother. Santa, it seems, is no saint after all.
Amber and Teresa are incredulous — and shocked -— but Victoria stands by her story. “He looked at me and went, ‘I’m not joking,’” she recalls Rino saying. Teresa thinks that Victoria may be the one joking. Her friend, she explains in an on-camera interview “embellishes” events. (And props to Teresa for using embellishes in a sentence!)
Amber feigns concern that something similar might happen at her house. “My mom’s home with my husband now, ahhh!” she jokes. But then she hightails it out of Victoria’s house anyway.
