Boys will be boys — and Luann de Lesseps‘ fiancé, Tom, will continue to cause drama on The Real Housewives of New York City. The Wednesday, August 3, episode opened with Ramona Singer reiterating (for the bazillionth time) that Lu had known Sonja Morgan was sleeping with Tom and decided to go for him anyway. “It’s a little weird that the man that you just slept with eight weeks ago is now engaged to your girlfriend. That’s a little bizarro,” Ramona offered to the camera while Sonja insisted she could get through the engagement part “diplomatically.”
For the most part, Sonja tried to make good on her vow. After ragging on Luann’s guests by calling them “iffy,” Sonja went over to say hello to her former bedmate. “After you guys get married, you’ll have to introduce me to a nice guy,” Sonja said to Tom with a smile. He responded by mumbling he would see what he could do with a face of borderline disgust. “Tom is acting way more distant than I expected,” Sonja reflected to the camera. “I expected him to be warm and loving and give me a hug.” Not tonight, it seemed.
Tom Tells Ramona She Smells Like a Grapefruit
Not one to be left out of the fun (fun = drama), Ramona sidled up to Tom and recounted their dating history to Carole Radziwill. “I never liked bald guys,” Ramona began. “So we went out like four or five times.” Tom rolled his eyes and corrected her: “We went to dinner once — twice!” It was then Ramona’s turn to roll her eyes. Somehow this initial tension melted away, and Tom became very friendly, leaning in to Ramona’s neck and telling her she “smelled like a grapefruit.” For the record, that was a compliment.
“I don’t think Tom should be telling Ramona she smells like a grapefruit,” a stunned Carole said to the camera with a laugh. Later, Ramona and Carole laughed about Tom’s weird comment, and Ramona speculated that both Tom and Lu were “very insecure,” which is why they both spent so much time still flirting with other people.
Jules’ Husband Abandons Their Kids
Jules Wainstein checked in with her kids to see how things were going in her absence, and found out (from the nanny) that her husband, Michael, was nowhere to be found. Jules called Michael and confronted him, and it didn’t go very well. “You’re supposed to be with your children,” she said, prompting Michael to insist he was going to see them that afternoon. He listed off a bunch of excuses, ranging from he was busy with other things, to the fact that his parents wanted to spend time with their grandkids.
“I’m disappointed. I’m frustrated,” Jules said to the camera. “I almost want to shake him and be like, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” It certainly seemed from their increasingly tense exchanges that Jules and Michael’s marriage (which is now ending) was headed for trouble.
Luann and Ramona Both Think the Other Is a “Bitch”
The morning after, Dorinda Medley decided to stir the Tom pot once again by reporting to Luann that the other women were still talking about his past with Ramona. “I invite her here, and all she can talk about is how she dated Tom?” Luann said as she stomped off to find Ramona. “I’m going to wring her neck. Where is she?”
Luann found Ramona still lounging in bed. “Listen, Ramona — I’ve got an issue with you. Stop talking about Tom. Stay out of my business! He told you last night the real truth. I’m not interested in what you have to say. Do you understand me? You’re inappropriate, and I want you to stop right now. Do you understand me? Or I’m going to throw you off the side of the boat. Do you understand me?” As Lu screamed, Ramona stared back but said nothing. “Stop talking about Tom and my marriage!”
Ramona raised a brow and asked, “What marriage?” And that’s when Luann went completely off the deep end.
“Don’t be that jealous bitch!” she shouted at Ramona. “You’re making up stories that you dated Tom! You know that that’s not true!” At this point, Ramona blasted back that it was time to talk about Luann’s “inappropriateness,” and started shouting about how Lu had made a comment to the press about Ramona’s dating life — and mistakenly cited her as Tom’s former friend with benefits. “You are perpetuating this and you’re a bitch for doing it!” Ramona shouted. “I don’t need my name in the press! I don’t want my name in the press! Keep your goddamn mouth shut!” Then Ramona stormed upstairs to get herself some scrambled eggs.
Ramona Breaks Down in Tears
Upstairs, however, a very different Ramona emerged. Instead of fiery, she seemed morose and actually broke down in tears, arguing that she was crying for Sonja because Sonja was in a lot of pain over the situation. Dorinda wasn’t buying it. “They were making love late at night and drinking heavily,” Dorinda quipped.
Luann then approached Ramona and demanded an apology — but also gave one, saying she was sorry for losing her temper. She then reminded Sonja that Sonja might have slept with Tom, but Lu was the one marrying him. Sonja said this was a “low blow” and looked like she had been slapped in the face.
Bethenny Reveals Her Big Secret
Once the gang had arrived in Miami, Bethenny Frankel called Luann into her room to catch up, and quizzed her on the status of her relationship with her fiancé. “You’re 100 percent sure?” Bethenny asked. Luann replied, “190 percent!”
“Are you guys monogamous?” Bethenny asked. “What do you mean monogamous? We’re getting married,” Luann said. “How do you know you can trust him?” Bethenny asked. Luann didn’t like this one bit and slinked away as soon as she could.
Then Bethenny debriefed with Carole and Ramona about what she should do with the information she had. “I’ve heard that he himself isn’t very wealthy, and he only dates very wealthy women and that they pay for everything,” Bethenny began before dropping the actual bomb. “He has not been faithful to her already.”
It turned out that Bethenny had learned that just two nights before the engagement party, Tom had been making out with another woman (a Playmate or Playboy Bunny, to be exact) at the Regency Hotel for over an hour. Bethenny knew it was true because she had a photo of Tom in action.
“I honestly don’t know what to do,” she said to Carole and Ramona, who looked totally surprised. Bethenny then suggested they “take a vote” to decide if she should tell Luann or not — and Ramona immediately asked if she could abstain.
