RHONY Recap: Bethenny Faces Off Against Heather and Kristen, Plays Nice With Sonja and Ramona

Real Housewives of New York City recap
Bethenny Frankel faced off against Heather Thomson and Kristen Taekman, played nice with Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer on Real Housewives of New York.

June 9’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City picked up right where last week left off—with Bethenny Frankel and Heather Thomson battling it out at Dorinda Medley‘s birthday dinner in the Berkshires (sigh). “Heather just wants to be helpful,” the hostess reflected before adding, “but there’s definitely a lot of crying involved.”

Bethenny actually got up and crossed over to Heather’s side of the table to try to make nice (or nicer, anyway). “I don’t want any attention,” she explained to the Yummie founder. “I just want to live and I want to sort of find a way to have it not be about me, as f—ed as that is. I’m over myself.” She did go on to formally apologize, which Heather seemingly accepted.

“When you’re ready to make a step forward to me, then I will be here,” Heather said. Case closed… for about two seconds. As soon as Bethenny went back to her seat, Heather began commiserating with LuAnn de Lesseps about what had just transpired, which the Skinnygirl mogul didn’t like one bit.

“Don’t be like, ‘Wow’ after and start talking about it five seconds later!” Bethenny snapped. Ever the peacekeeper, Dorinda took the bickering in stride. “This is just background noise,” she shrugged. “Happy birthday to me!”

Ramona Has a Heart-to-Heart With Her Daughter Avery

Upon returning from her new favorite getaway (the Berkshires!), Ramona Singer spent some quality time with Avery, who was home from college for winter break. As they unpacked an army of suitcases, the wine-purveyor gauged her daughter’s thoughts on a possible reconciliation between her separated parents.

“Has your father told you that he’s trying to pursue me, so to speak, that he wants to reconcile and stuff?” Ramona asked as casually as she could while sorting Avery’s clothes.

“I don’t really ask too many questions,” Avery replied before (wisely) adding, “I’d rather stay out of it.” Naturally, Ramona responded by continuing to fish for information. “I think you should do whatever makes you happy because it’s your life,” Avery conceded. (Translation: Please stop asking me about this.)

Ramona continued, “My biggest fear I have about your father is that he’s not a generally happy person—at least right now. I don’t know. I really don’t know.”

Bethenny Rules the Boardroom

In an effort to help out fellow Housewife Sonja Morgan, Bethenny invited the aspiring lifestyle entrepreneur to her “Skinnygirl Summit,” which apparently involves all of Bethenny’s partners coming together to air grievances and celebrate achievements. “I want to see Sonja do well,” Bethenny revealed. “She needs to pull her s–t together personally and professionally and maybe today is the wakeup call that she has been waiting for.”

Sonja—who later admitted she thought the summit would be more like a cocktail party at Cipriani’s—arrived sporting a sequined suit and wielding a tiny notebook. Though she was dressed for a night on Broadway, she seemed to diligently take notes and be genuinely appreciative of Bethenny’s invitation.

“I’m soaking this whole thing up,” she told Bethenny. “I’m loving it.” It was unclear how much information she actually internalized, but hey, it’s a start.

Bethenny Wants to Be a Lesbian

Well, kinda. During a girls’ dinner with Ramona, Dorinda, and Carole Radziwill, Bethenny said she’d pretty much sworn off ever living with a man again and announced that she’d like to swing the other way. “I want to be a lesbian, I just don’t want to go down on anyone ever.” She then clarified, “I like having sex with a man, but I’ll do it.”

Carole jumped in, noting, “Sonja never talks to me when she’s sober, but when she’s drunk, she only wants to have sex with me.” Dorinda argued that most women have mild attraction to other women, but Ramona wasn’t having it. “Ew! I’m not doing a girl!” she winced. Beyond how far they were willing to blur the lines of their sexual orientation, the only other topic of discussion was… Bethenny’s brawl with Heather in the Berkshires.

Bethenny and Ramona Bond Over a Mutual Distaste for Heather

Because they hadn’t talked about it enough, Bethenny and Ramona kicked off Ramona’s holiday soiree by discussing the tension between Bethenny and Heather. “I don’t think she knows what to do with me,” Bethenny asserted.

“When I met her two years ago, I personally felt her eyes were saying one thing and her mouth was saying another,” Ramona added, prompting Bethenny to echo that Heather was “disingenuous.” In other words, neither one of them is really a big fan of Heather, despite how many times they each might try to argue otherwise. It would have been nice if this was the only issue to arise that night, but the party was just getting started.

Nailed It! Kristen’s Claws Come Out for Bethenny

In a moment of insanity, Carole told Kristen Taekman a few not-so-nice things Bethenny had said about her recently. “I didn’t want to say anything, because I didn’t want to hurt your feelings,” Carole began. (Uh oh; that’s never a good way to start a conversation.) “But I saw Bethenny the other day, and she said something to the effect of, ‘Well, you know, Kristen doesn’t even own the trademark to Pop of Color’ and I was a little surprised and I said, ‘Well are you sure she doesn’t in nail polish?’ And she goes, ‘No, she’s so dumb, she didn’t even get the trademark.'” Kristen barely managed to mutter, “Thanks for the awesome information,” before storming off to go rip Bethenny a new one.

“I f—ed up. I realized I shouldn’t have told Kristen what had transpired between Bethenny and I because Kristen is trying to connect with Bethenny and Bethenny’s just not having it,” Carole later lamented to the camera. Hindsight is 20/20, so they say.

In any case, what was done was done and Kristen was determined to say her piece. Though she was initially stonewalled by LuAnn (who was having her own go at Bethenny) Kristen was persistent and eventually got some one-on-one time with the Skinnygirl founder.

“I want you to know my nail polish line, I am really, really, really passionate about it. For me, it is like the biggest thing ever. I am so excited,” Kristen began. “Carole tells me tonight that apparently I’m dumb because my Pop of Color’s not trademarked? Like, what’s this whole conversation about? Like, I’m totally flattered that you take the time to Google my company and you know, now you’re telling me that it’s not trademarked?!”

Bethenny replied by storming off and refusing to engage any further. “Why are you walking away?” Kristen shouted after her. “I have a question!”

“If I’m sitting there and I’m watching someone holding a gun while they’re loading bullets, I’m not going to wait to get shot,” Bethenny later explained to the camera.

“She doesn’t give two s—s about me. That’s really what it comes down to,” Kristen said during her interview.

The episode ended by circling back to (insert eye roll here) Bethenny and Heather hashing it out, yet again, over that argument in the Berkshires. Heather again reiterated that Bethenny has “a wall up,” Bethenny again apologized, and Heather again forgave her.

“It’s a truce, but it’s not like I’m going to jump into this head first,” Heather said to the camera. “I want to check before I jump with Bethenny and make sure there’s water in the pool.”
