The doctor is out! Sara Ramirez announced her Grey’s Anatomy departure on Thursday, May 19, after 10 years of playing Dr. Callie Torres. The actress, 40, issued a statement thanking her costars and series creator Shonda Rhimes, adding that she was “taking some welcome time off.”
Callie — who is headed to New York with daughter Sofia in tow to reunite with girlfriend Penny (Samantha Sloyan) in Thursday’s season 12 finale — has had countless memorable moments throughout her time on the ABC medical drama, including plenty of magical scenes with ex-wife Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).
