Saturday Night Live Recap: Adele Performs Breathtaking Rendition of “Hello,” Saves Thanksgiving

She had them at hello. Adele took to the stage as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 21, delivering a chillingly emotional rendition of her hit single “Hello.”

But the British songstress’ epic ballad had some hilarious side effects as well, serving as the saving grace for one family’s terrible Thanksgiving in an SNL short.

In the clip, a family gathers around the Thanksgiving table for a meal together, but get into a squabble over comments like “I’m thankful that our governor is not going to let those refugees in here.”

“Thanksgiving with family can be hard,” a message intones over the video. “Everyone has different opinions and beliefs.”

The one thing that bonds all the family members? Adele’s “Hello,” which a little girl plays every time things get too heated at the table.

The instant the song comes on, all the cast members — including Aidy Bryant, Jay Pharaoh, and Cecily Strong  break out into enthusiastic lip sync and begin adopting some very Adele-like qualities, including hair, long red nails, and dramatic eyelashes.

Host Matthew McConaughey also joins in on the fun, as an out-of-touch grandpa.
