Sex and the City’s Samantha Jones may have taught Us never to chase a man, but fans are absolutely running back to Smith Jerrod.
Jason Lewis, the actor who played the waiter-turned-actor on the hit HBO series, resurfaced on social media earlier this week after a lengthy hiatus to share a life update. “Three years ago, I went quiet. Not because I had nothing to say but because I had something to do,” Lewis, 54, said in his Thursday, May 21, Instagram video during a stroll on the beach. “The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that.”
“It’s the kind of work that needs to find its people, though,” he went on, not addressing the specific project he has been working on. “I’m still in it, but I am far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I’ve been doing. More to come.”

Lewis’ IMDB states that he has an upcoming project titled Restaveks, currently in post-production. The actor’s last project was in 2020, when he played Lance in Palm Swings.
Lewis notably became a fan-favorite after his debut on SATC in 2003 during the season 6 episode. Smith and Samantha hit it off and he remained on the series until it wrapped in 2004. He also appeared in Sex and the City: The Movie in 2008.
Lewis was not only a regular fixture of the SATC franchise, but returned for the second film, 2010’s Sex and the City 2.

However, he was MIA for the spinoff, And Just Like That…, similar to his onscreen girlfriend Kim Cattrall, although her beloved character, Samantha Jones, did make a cameo.
“It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?’ and I went, ‘Hmm, Let me get creative,’” Cattrall, 69, said about her highly anticipated comeback during a June 2023 appearance on The View, noting she needed her trusted stylist by her side. “And one of those things was to get Pat Field back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back, I gotta come back with that Samantha style. I gotta push it. And we did.”
As for Lewis, he apparently never got a call about reprising his role for the spinoff.
“I have not [been approached], but I would be the last to know! As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls,” Lewis told Daily Front Row in 2021.
