There can only be one American Idol, and it won’t be 16-year-old Shannon Magrane.

The Tampa, Florida native was eliminated from the FOX singing competition Thursday, making her the second contestant to be voted off this season. (Jeremy Rosado was sent home March 8; Jermaine Jones was disqualified Wednesday for not reporting two prior arrests.)

Magrane was given the chance to sing her version of Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men‘s “One Sweet Day” to earn the judges’ save, but Jennifer Lopez, 42, Steven Tyler, 63, and Randy Jackson, 55, chose not to use it.

Despite being sent home early on — and missing the opportunity to go on the American Idol summer tour — Magrane is proud of her time on the show.

“It’s definitely upsetting knowing that you have come this far and it has to end here,” Magrane told Us Weekly post-show. “But thinking about it, out   of 121,000 people who auditioned for American Idol, I am in the top 11. So I am really proud of myself.”

Given Jones’ early departure, Magrane hoped the remaining 11 contestants — herself included — might avoid elimination Thursday.

“There were tons of options: they could have sent someone home, they could have used the save, they could’ve not sent anyone home or could have brought someone back,” she said. “There were so many options I couldn’t even think about it. I was just so in my zone.”

Though she’s sad to be going home, Magrane isn’t giving up her dream of becoming a famous singer: “This is just the beginning for me.”
