The honeymoon is over. Meri and Janelle Brown clash during therapy in a preview for the Sunday, June 12, episode of Sister Wives, and Us Weekly has an exclusive first look.
As seen in the clip, the two women — who are both married to Kody Brown, along with fellow sister wives Christine and Robyn — sit down with a therapist to discuss repairing their rocky friendship.
Meri, 45, reveals that she and Janelle previously tried patching things up by “working on Thanksgiving decorations together,” but unfortunately, they organize table centerpieces “completely different,” which she feels is an added layer to their fractured relationship.
“We also have years of reacting to each other’s differences,” she says. “We have that added on top of it.”
With theThanksgiving drama behind them, they broach the topic of their upcoming Hawaiian vacation in therapy. “I wonder, Meri, if we actually break new ground and interact and actually do something on the vacation?” Janelle, 47, asks Meri while their counselor listens in.
They throw around a few different ideas for bonding activities to participate in on vacay, but Meri seems doubtful. “I have no idea what we could do in Hawaii,” she tells the camera. “Maybe we could go to the beach and see if we could build a sandcastle together. I don’t know.”
As fans will recall, Meri and Janelle’s beef goes way back. In the family’s 2012 book, Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage, Janelle opened up about how the ladies’ relationship changed after she ended her previous marriage with Meri’s brother to become Kody’s new wife. “Meri and I went from cordial to frosty overnight. We snipped at each other over the smallest things,” she wrote.
In the preview above, Meri and Janelle’s fellow sister wife Christine shares her thoughts about the ongoing tension. “I hope that this just starts their friendship going. It’s a good place to start,” she says in a confessional. “I definitely know that, as far as plural families go, having sister wives get along, it is really important. “
