Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie has a lot of ideas for season 2 of Sterling Point — including surprise challenges and more love triangles.
“I’m hoping to see everyone come back. And I kind of hope that it’s not going to be easy for Ellis and Annie,” Whiteduck-Lavoie, 23, exclusively tells Us about the Prime Video show. “It can’t just be rainbows and sunshines.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie is hoping for a shakeup.
“I want life to be hard for Ellis and I want to be challenged. I want to have crunchier scenes and I want to explore that depth in Ellis,” he notes. “I just want the writers to make life hard for him and not make it easy.”
He continues: “I really hope everyone is going to come back and I hope Rory will come back. I hope there’s gonna be new characters and also some new interesting ones. Maybe there’s a new love triangle.”
Sterling Point, which debuted earlier this month, follows teenagers in Muskoka, Canada, who face various ups and downs. Prime Video renewed the show the same month it premiered — and fans are on the edge of their seats when it comes to more episodes.
“Maybe there’s going to be a new love triangle with or without Ellis. Maybe some characters get new love interests — like Connor. I hope I get more scenes with everyone,” Whiteduck-Lavoie shares. “I don’t know what to expect.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie is looking forward to being surprised by how season 2 will unfold.
“It’s a weird feeling, but I really hope they won’t make it easy for Ellis. I obviously want to be challenged as an actor,” he tells Us. “I want to show some emotion. I want to show some grit. I don’t want life to be easy for Ellis.”
While reflecting on the hit series, Whiteduck-Lavoie gives Sterling Point credit for pushing him as an actor.
“It was a lot of talking and sitting down with [creator] Megan [Park]. In Quebec, everything is just so much more fast-paced because we have tighter budgets. We have jam-packed days where we’re shooting, like, 10 to 15 scenes a day, so you don’t really get the time to, like, break down scenes,” he adds. “I had the chance to do that with Megan and it was very helpful.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie tells Us he can’t wait to dig even deeper on Sterling Point — and on future projects.
“I’m 23, so I’m still learning every day about who I am, who I want to be and what I love to do. For this job, the highlight was getting my boating license and getting to shoot on water and having to drive boats. In the future, I just really hope to dip my toes in everything and try a little bit of everything,” he says. “That could be cool to do stunts. I also really hope I get some good and interesting stories come my way. I really hope I get to challenge myself as an actor and grow as an actor and prove some people wrong. It’s a blessing to call this a job and be able to do this. I just really hope I get to explore everything.”
