Before KJ Dillard and Mia Calabrese were roommates in the Hamptons, the Summer House stars had a connection through their extended families.
“My mom and @miagcalabrese’s sister were college roommates and friends,” KJ shared via Instagram on Tuesday, May 12, with a throwback photo. “This is me as a baby with both of them.”
The picture, which was captured more than 25 years ago, quickly grabbed the attention of fans and followers.
“This is incredible!” Andy Cohen wrote in the comments section. Cast member Dara Levitan added, “Life is so beautiful.”
Mia may have had the best reaction when she celebrated the shocking connection to her costar that goes back decades.
“I still cannot believe this! So insane,” she wrote. “We’ve been family forever!”
Back in February, KJ and Mia made their Summer House debuts. Mia joined the group through her good friend Ciara Miller and was “ready to bring the heat, the fun and a little mess,” according to Bravo.
As for KJ, the Kansas City native was saying goodbye to his life as a pro skateboarder and leaning into modeling and music during his single era.

When filming Summer House, the show’s newest cast member formed a special friendship with Mia and fell in love with Dara.
“We’re boyfriend and girlfriend,” he exclusively shared with Us Weekly in March. “I love her tremendously. She’s the best. I wish she was here right now. She has a completely different upbringing than I do, which I’m attracted to, but emotionally we’re very similar, and I love that about her.”
While KJ’s first season of Summer House has brought plenty of surprises, the biggest shock may have come when Ciara Miller’s ex-boyfriend West Wilson confirmed he was dating Ciara’s once-BFF Amanda Batula.
Although KJ has made it clear that he doesn’t approve of the relationship and is Team Ciara, he couldn’t help but get emotional when reading a text from West on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen after taping the season 10 reunion.
“West says, ‘I wanted to thank you for your articulation and kindness yesterday, despite being hurt. I’ve been off social, and I think I lost touch with how much hurt there was. I’m incredibly sorry,’” KJ said when reading the message.
“It just hurts because it’s, like, me and him were so close,” he added.
Summer House airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
