The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge got emotional as she reflected on her estrangement from daughter Sidney Barney on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
On the Thursday, October 15, episode of the Bravo talk show, host Andy Cohen said he had never seen Tamra, 59, “so guturally break down” as she did on Thursday’s episode of RHOC, in which Tamra cried over her relationship with Sidney, 28, during a cast trip to Tokyo.
During Thursday’s episode of RHOC, Tamra received support from an unlikely source: frequent rival Shannon Beador.
“It kind of meant everything to me. Me and Shannon have gone [through] so many ups and downs through the past 12 years of knowing each other,” Tamra said as she wiped away tears. “There was a scene — they didn’t show it — where I said, ‘You and I have gone through so much together, but you’ve never villainized me for the situation I’m going through.’”
On Thursday’s RHOC episode, Tamra said she was hurt by costar Vicki Gunvalson bringing up her estrangement from Sidney on her podcast in the past, prompting the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast host to get vulnerable about the situation with her castmates.
“It’s a tough situation. It’s a hard situation. People want to make me out to be the villain. So it just meant a lot for Shannon to be there,” Tamra said on WWHL. “Whenever somebody gets mad at me, their go-to is, ‘Your daughter hates you.’ It’s so much deeper than that. I hope that we can put this to rest. It’s a family situation that is not good, it’s sad, and it’s horrible.”
Tamra previously opened up about Sidney leaving home at age 14 during RHOC season 19.
“Sidney moved out when she was 14, and she never came back,” Tamra said in a confessional as she discussed daughter Sophia, 21, moving out. “I know that if Sophia moves out, it’s not forever. But because of what I went through with Sidney, I worry that Sophia is going to leave me. I’m worried that she’ll never talk to me again.”
Tamra shares Sidney, Sophia and son Spencer, 26, with ex-husband Simon Barney. She also has a son, Ryan, 40, from her first marriage to Darren Vieth.
Tamra gave an update on her relationship with Sidney during the RHOC season 19 reunion last year, telling Andy, 58, that she saw Sidney when she stopped by the house Tamra shares with husband Eddie Judge because she had lunch plans with Sophia.
“I went outside, and, um, we hugged. We talked about life for about 30 minutes,” Tamra said. “And then she said, ‘Mom, can I hug you goodbye?’ And she hugged me, and I just held onto her for so long. And I just said, ‘I can’t let you go. I just can’t let you go.’ And it was just a really, really special moment.”
