Announcing Danson's appointment Tuesday, the network revealed that Danson will appear as the new CSI Supervisor working the graveyard shift, joining the staff after working at Portland's crime lab. His character "comes to the team as they are still grappling with the professional and personal fallout from last season's take-down of serial killer, Nate Haskell," according to a network press release.

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," CSI's Executive Producer Don McGill tells Us Weekly in a statement. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

In addition to his role on CSI, Danson will continue his work as a series regular on HBO's Bored to Death.
