They’re back! The drama-prone ladies of MTV’s Teen Mom 2 are returning for a fifth season, and it could possibly be their most emotional yet. In the series’ new trailer, we see stars Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer, and Chelsea Houska each dealing with their own set of issues.
Jailbird Jenelle Evans is spotted leaving a detention center and jumping into the arms of boyfriend Nathan Griffith after her August 2013 arrest. At the time, Evans had been detained for failing a random drug test while in court for another set of charges.
Evans later gets into a screaming match with Griffith. “You constantly talk to girls all the f–king time!” she accuses her man.
Griffith later fires back at Evans’ mother Barbara, who has custody of the 21-year-old’s son Jace, sniping, “You got your daughter on heroin. Good job, Barbara!”
“You know what, f–k you, I didn’t put a needle in her arm,” Barbara retorts.
But the biggest shocker comes when Evans reveals she’s pregnant for the second time.
“It would be selfish to Jace if I had another child,” she says. “I decided that I am going to get an abortion.”
It’s hard to know if this scene was shot in January 2013, when it was rumored that Evans had a miscarriage with now-estranged hubby Courtland Rogers, or if it’s surrounding her current pregnancy with boyfriend Nathan Griffith.
And Evans’ costar Kailyn Lowry is dealing with some equally sensitive issues as she navigates her second pregnancy, plans a wedding without her emotionally abusive mother, Suzi, and a custody battle with ex Jo Rivera over their son Isaac, 4.
“I’m too f–king pregnant for this!” she sobs. “I have too much s–t going on!”
Beauty school student Chelsea Houska is also dealing with the trauma of saying goodbye to her baby daddy and former love Adam Lind, who has moved on with girlfriend Taylor Halbur. Halbur and Lind welcomed daughter Paislee in September 2013, adding to Houska’s upset.
But perhaps the most heartbreaking story of all is that of Leah Messer and her little girl Aliannah. The 4-year-old is one of Messer’s twin girls, who she gave birth to on season 2 of 16 and Pregnant in 2009 with ex-husband Corey Simms. The little girl has a physical disability that the show promises explore in season 5.
“No one ever thinks that their daughter will have special needs,” she said. “My future with her doesn’t look so damn bright.”
Teen Mom 2 season 5 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
