Cory Wharton is owning up to his mistakes from The Challenge: Cutthroat and seemingly revealed he is taking steps to make things right with girlfriend Taylor Selfridge.

“So I just wanna say this quick, I’ve apologized to the person who needed to hear it the most,” Cory, 35, wrote via X on Thursday, September 3. “I’m gonna continue to handle things behind closed doors. It’s been a very long time since I haven’t been proud of who I see on camera, and this is one of those times.”

In a separate social media post, the reality star added, “I’m not trying to make excuses. I’m not trying to put the blame on anybody but myself. I’m a big boy. I knew what I was doing.  I didn’t handle myself appropriate for the situation because the harm that it’s causing the people around me.”

While filming the latest season of The Challenge, cameras rolled when Cory — who shares Mila, 6, and Maya, 4, with Taylor, 32, and daughter Ryder, 9, with ex Cheyenne Floyd — seemingly bonded with costar Izzy Fairthorne.

“Izzy is very attractive. I’m sure you guys can see it. I can see it. Anybody with two eyes can see it,” Cory said in a confessional interview. “Back home hasn’t been great. … To come on this show and to have that magnet with somebody, it feels good.”

On the Wednesday, September 2, episode, Cory and Izzy, 27, continued to flirt in between competitions.

While the pair never kissed or got physical, Cory admitted his actions were not the right move.

“A lot of the times when you’re in the spotlight, it’s bigger than you and I lost sight of that,” he wrote via X on Thursday.  I was selfish and being a narcissist. And I apologize. I’ll get better. I’ll seek therapy & continue to be a loving, present father to my daughters 🫡✊🏽.”

Although Taylor, 32, has not commented on recent episodes, she seemingly addressed the online chatter about Cory’s behavior last month on Snapchat.

“I know you have questions for me at the moment. I don’t feel like talking about it, to be very honest,” she said on August 9. “I have my feelings about it, but I’m not going to talk about it on the internet right now.”

The Challenge: Cutthroat was filmed earlier this year before Cory and Taylor’s daughter Maya — who was born with a rare congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia — was hospitalized for several weeks with plastic bronchitis. She has been able to recover.

“If there was ever, like, a little diamond in the rough or blessing in disguise, it would be that, that me and Taylor did reconnect, and we did decide that, OK, we both have to put time into each other as well,” Cory told E! News in May about how Maya’s health scare brought them closer. “Because, yes, the terrifying experience did serve as a reminder of just how short life can be. It changed my perspective on a lot of things. Those little things that you tend to stress about in life kind of went away. It was like, those things don’t matter in the grand scheme.”

The Challenge: Cutthroat is streaming now on Paramount+ with new episodes dropping on Wednesday.
