The Ultimatum‘s Jebin John broke his silence about being kicked off the show over a controversial note.

During season 4, which premiered on Wednesday, July 15, Alex Johnsen and Jebin were one of the couples hoping to move forward in their relationship. They had been dating six years when Alex gave Jebin an ultimatum about getting engaged.

The duo were individually getting to know the other contestants that was part of the dating experiment when Jebin was seeing passing Alex a note. Hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey later had Alex read the note out loud to the group — and then dismissed both Jebin, and Alex from the show.

Jebin took to TikTok on Wednesday to poke fun at the moment. After a social media user wrote to Jebin that they would have “snatched the note and ate it,” he replied, “I ain’t gonna lie, I should have Superman-dove across the table, grabbed the note, put it in my pants and then looked at Nick and been like, ‘What you going to do now?’”

He continued: “But I knew that the producers, they probably had a picture because they knew I was going to do something crazy. So I decided to hold my horses and keep a straight face, so they couldn’t clip me up.”

Jebin also replied to a separate comment stating that the show “did him dirty.”

“They act like I’m a bad person,” he added. “It would’ve been cool if I was still on too.”

Jebin’s exit marks a franchise first for the show. The Ultimatum follows real-life couples who enter “trial” marriages with a new partner before deciding whether they’re ready to get engaged to their original connection.

Nick called Jebin out on screen for not taking the situation seriously.

“Communication is paramount in this entire experience, I think you’re all aware of that,” Nick told the six couples taking part in season 4. “But that communication, frankly, has to happen on camera. That’s part of this experience.”

Vanessa, for her part, pointed out that Jebin wasn’t ready for the experience, adding, “Jebin, I think I can speak for the room about the clarity you’ve given us on you not being ready to be involved in this experiment and I think that it’s going to negatively impact the rest of the group, if I’m being honest.”

In his letter, Jebin expressed frustration after Alex formed a connection with fellow contestant Killian Grondin.

“I want to say things can get better, but this time you did it. I honestly hope to God you guys weren’t touching on camera,” he wrote. “I’m not f***ing doing this. Who knows what else you’ve done? You’re into him. I don’t even know. There is no way we are getting married.”

The Ultimatum is streaming now on Netflix.
