Jennifer Lawrence may have skipped the majority of the Oscars red carpet on Sunday, February 28, in L.A., but she didn’t escape the fashion criticism. The Joy star, who was nominated for Actress in a Leading Role, stunned in a sheer, black lace gown by Dior Haute Couture, but not everyone was impressed by her look.
On the Monday, February 29, episode of Fashion Police, guest cohost Tim Gunn didn’t hide his disdain for her dress.
“I loathed this look,” said the Project Runway mentor, 62, disagreeing with stylist Brad Goreski, who had gushed about the actress’ appearance. “I thought it was the amateur hour. From my many years of teaching, this to me looked like a student project.”

Oh, ouch! So what made the gorgeous and no doubt expensive gown look like a novice design in the fashion expert’s eyes?
“The evidence in the boning, the lace over it; it was all the sort of cheap shots that students pull!” Gunn explained. “And I will add: For Jennifer Lawrence and her station in Hollywood and this industry, when she appeared, I honestly thought, ‘Who is that?!’ I just felt that … she’s not rising to the occasion that I would expect her to. I’m a truth teller!”

No doubt about that last bit regarding his honesty! During an interview with the New York Daily News in December, the TV personality called Kanye West’s Yeezy fashion line “dumb clothes.” A month earlier, he told the Huffington Post that the Kardashians and their style are “vulgar.”
And who can forget when Gunn sat down with Us Weekly last June to flip through Kim Kardashian’s book of selfies, Selfish? “I feel my IQ is plummeting!” he quipped.
